April 2009
Dear Parents / Caregivers / Students
It seems this term has gone particularly fast. Our students have enjoyed enhancing not only acting and performing skills, but also their interaction, speech and confidence. They have been learning about sharing ideas, listening to others and incorporating their ideas with the ideas of others.
My thanks to Bree Le Cren, who relieved for me when ‘Privates On Parade’ was opening at Repertory Theatre. During the school holidays, I will conclude my shooting for the new TV series, ‘Kaitangata Twitch’. It’s a 13 part series based on the Margaret Mahy story. I have a small role in it and it is scheduled to air on Maori TV from late June.
Next term students will be looking at some specific stagecraft techniques such as: entrances and exits; using and handling properties; voice projection; use of gestures and facial expressions. Towards the end of term two, I begin directing ‘Angels’ for the Court Theatre at The Forge. Bree will be taking the last few classes of the term.
I’m looking forward to another exciting term exploring and developing drama skills. If your child plans on returning, please let us know via the website, email or phone. The first class back is Thursday 30 April.
Best wishes for Easter and the holidays.
Yours sincerely
